Sundays at JCPC

Welcome to John Calvin Presbyterian Church!

Whether this is your first Sunday with us or your five-hundredth, you belong here.
JCPC is more than just a church—it’s a community where love, faith, and curiosity meet. Nestled in the heart of Annandale, VA, we are a congregation that delights in seeking God’s presence in both the ordinary and the extraordinary. Here, you’ll find people who care deeply, worship vibrantly, and serve with open hearts.

We believe that faith is a journey best traveled together. In worship, in service, and in friendship, we remind one another that God’s love is real, boundless, and for everyone. At JCPC, you are welcomed as you are, with all your questions, joys, and hopes.

If you’ve found us online, I hope you’ll take the next step and join us in person.

There’s a place for you here.

With grace and joy,
Rev. Casey Wait

A Community of Peacemaking

At the heart of our church is a deep commitment to peacemaking. This means practicing respect, listening with care, offering forgiveness, and working for justice in all its forms. We believe that through Christ, the impossible becomes possible, and we are called to be a force for love in the world.

Sunday Worship at JCPC

Worship is at the heart of our life together. Our services seek to uplift and challenge, inform and comfort. At JCPC, you’ll find an open and welcoming congregation of all ages and backgrounds, and visitors are always embraced with warmth.

Our service blends meaningful traditions with fresh expressions of faith. We sing hymns, enjoy beautiful choral and instrumental musical offerings, share prayers and scripture, and engage in thoughtful preaching that connects faith to everyday life. Children are always welcome in worship, and we encourage their participation. We believe the sounds of children in worship are a delightful witness to the joy of being together. There are crayons and drawing tables available at the back of the sanctuary, and we understand that sometimes little ones need to move around during worship (sometimes the adults do, as well!).

What to Expect

Attire?

Come as you are—some dress casually, others more formally. (Rev. Casey Wait occasionally feels the need to wear liturgically-appropriate platform rhinestone shoes–some of which have been gifts from this beloved congregation who doesn’t mind being quirky. Most of the time she is in a robe or in her collar).

Communion?

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month, and ALL are welcome to the table.

Accessibility?

Our sanctuary and facilities are fully accessible. Hearing assistance devices are available. Our sanctuary is located on the lower level and is easily accessible from the parking lot. Fellowship and education spaces upstairs can be reached by stairs or an outdoor ramp. If you need assistance navigating the building, we’re happy to help—just let us know!

We also strive to be a welcoming place for those with cognitive and behavioral differences, recognizing that worship looks different for everyone. We embrace the joyful sounds and movements of all who worship with us and offer resources to support participation in ways that feel comfortable.

Parking?

Free parking is available on-site, with designated disabled parking spaces at upper and lower lot entrances.

We would love to welcome you in worship! Plan your first visit with us, we’re happy to answer all of your questions.

Who We Are

John Calvin Presbyterian Church (JCPC) is a faith community where believers and seekers come together to worship, grow, and serve. Rooted in the love of Christ, we seek to deepen our understanding of God, follow Jesus more faithfully, and live by the power of the Holy Spirit.

At JCPC, you’ll find a welcoming mix of people from different backgrounds, ages, and life experiences. We believe that God’s vision for the world is one of diversity, justice, and peace, and we strive to live this out in how we worship, learn, and serve together.

We know that faith is not always easy, and the path of Christ is not always simple.

That’s why we walk this journey together—encouraging one another, asking big questions, and seeking the Spirit’s guidance in all that we do.

Statement of Welcome and Inclusion

“There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28 (NRSV)

At JCPC, we joyfully affirm and welcome all who are seeking truth and exploring the way of Christ. No matter your race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, religious background, gender, gender identity, physical ability, or health—you are loved, and you belong here.

The life and work of Christ make it clear: “The same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call on him.” — Romans 10:12. As followers of Jesus, we are committed to creating a community where all people are embraced, valued, and encouraged to grow in faith and service.
